Navigation updates coming!
We finally have some navigation updates coming really soon, hopefully ready to test first week of May...
1. We have updated map for EU and NA, both late 2007 maps...
2. The drop down menu when you touch the map will be touch screen friendly.
3. The drop down menu will have a new "Add to favorites" addition that will launch the Centrafuse navigation favorites manager.
4. We will have the ability to import POI's and other data into your Favorites folders, improved.
5. You will be able to hide/show your favorites on the map, and change the icon you want displayed from the Centrafuse GUI.
6. You will be able to set an audio file to play as you near your favorites, from the Centrafuse GUI.
7. We will have a new function to Avoid Roads, so you can pull up your turn by turn list while in a route, select a street/road in your route you don't want to use, click avoid, and it will auto re-route.
8. We will be adding basic TMC as well as TMC Pro, TrafficSam functionality directly into Centrafuse.
9. The map refresh rate and graphics rendering will be improved, it will solve all delay issues reported with the navigation system.
10. It will work with COM ports over 9.
11. You will be able to properly set the COM port to NONE and not have it use another used COM port on the system, has caused some issues for users with SatRadio and OBDII.
Will add to another update as soon as we get it and get it initially tested...

The new maps are...
EU = Navteq Q2 2007
NA = TeleAtlas R4 2007
The improved the road colors as well, and much more POI data... The NA TeleAtlas has the extended POI data included...

Excellent. So I will be able to see if it wants me to drive down the ferry route and tell it my car does not float.

LOL my dad uses a Garmin and he told me something similar today. It told him to take the ferry. He was so lost...
Maybe the next version will tell people to put the cord on the inflatable life jacket and start swimming. LOL

Can I suggest a few further updates...
1) Another option on the pull down menu when on the map to say "Avoid Road" & "Navigate Via" - Useful when you want to see your route on the map and then select there what you want to avoid/take. I know the turn by turn option is coming anyway for avoiding roads, so a step in the right direction at least.
2) The ability to search for an address and go straight there on the map. You may know the general area (e.g. town/city) you want to get to but don't know the exact location (street name/POI) until you see it laid out on a map - The ability to 'Go There' then becomes much more useful on the map pull down menu for addresses and POI's.
Not sure if these are feature requests already suggested but they weren't in the list from David. I have used other SatNav systems in the past and find these features invaluable. I travel a lot around the country and find addresses are not always accurate so to show the area and then choose a different destination, directly on the map, would be great. Plus, I like to visualise my route and decide which roads to avoid/take and what POI's I may like to travel via.
EDITED: Some items removed as I've realised 'Navigate there' is already in the pull down menu but don't use it because I can't go directly to address in map view. Same reason for not noticing you can actually switch on/off POI's in map. Sorry, should have checked this before posting! Items 1 & 2 above still applicable as feature requests though.
