Only problem I have had was when I started using the Silabs usb radio and I had removed the .inf for usbaudio. Copied them from a full install and off I went

I think you're better of disabling what you can in the BIOS so that the BIOS doesn't initialise something that windows is going to ignore anyway. I found that disabling the unused ide/sata channels and onboard lan saved the most time.
