Sometimes (from 1.2) CF is not responding
Hi all,
I've been having some problems with the 1.2 release. I installed the 1.2 trial (BTW, I've been using CF for almost 8 months now and must say: great software!) and I noticed that sometimes CF just freezes. The music keeps on playing and the song timer is updated, but the navigation engine (destinator) freezes too (location cursor is not moving and the screen does not respond). CF does not respond to any buttons on the screen. When I hibernate the pc and then de-hibernate (???) the pc, CF is responding again, but then destinator is not receiving any GPS signal. When I close CF and start CF again (after waiting a few seconds) still no GPS signal. When I close CF again and open another GPS program, the COM port can't be opened (I'm using NMEA with a Globalsat BU-353 by the way). Then, since the store was online, I bought the XLE (Europe) version. But as I suspected, this didn't matter since it's both version 1.20. I'm thinking, perhaps the freezing of CF is caused by destinator? I'll post the log file tomorrow (just thought of that now...). Anyway, keep up the good work (I'm a .NET developer myself)! Perhaps the log file will clear up some things. Greetings from The Netherlands, Rik |

hopefully the log will help... all the options you changed from default will help as well, also see if you can narrow it down to a certain section such as do not use navigation and see if it stops, disable phone, etc...
you disable navigation by setting the navigation engine to none... david |

Very strange, but I can't find a log file! I searched everywhere...
Any ideas why? I'll post all my changes in de settings later today or tomorrow (not that many though). I'm not using the phone function because it doesn't work very well with my HTC P3300... Last edited by Rik; June 26th, 2007 at 04:57 AM. |

This was for better Vista support, which doesn't like any files being written under Program Files directory... david |

When i started CF the music started to play, the normal screen appeared, but none of the buttons was clickable. Only pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL helped my out. Restarting the computer didn't help: same problem. Inserted the CF DVD, and tried the option: repair: Didn't help. Only removing and reinstalling solved it. By the way, i'm running XP-SP2 now, not Vista anymore. Software is CF 1.20. The only thing i have changed (as far as i remember) was changing the language to Dutch. I have tried to find the error log, but where the hack is LocalAppData\Centrafuse Marcel |

LocalAppData is a User folder on your system...
For XP it should be something like: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Centrafuse The error.log file should be in that folder... You may need to show hidden folders... david |

I've had a similar issue.
Check your CPU utilisation, is it at or close to 100%? Are you getting a lot of HDD activity? I cured it by reducing the native windows resolution to its lowest setting (800x600 in my case), and maxing the video memory (shared memory on an onboard intel graphics chip) Would also recommend a disc check (especially in the case of pc's in moving vehicles) and a defrag (Diskeeper works best I've found). Hibernate works best if your disk is in good condition and defraged. |

Fout HRESULT E_FAIL is geretourneerd voor een aanroep van een COM-onderdeel.
bij DESTSDKLib.DestClass.GetAddressFromCoordinates(Des tPoint pIDestPoint) bij GPS.menudialog.loadMapHistory() ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This error is logged many many many times. The 'hang' problem I'm talking about occured on the 22nd and 24th of June. Strangely, there are no records of these dates! This never happened before. I don't think it's the HDD beause the music keeps on playing. I defragment the HDD regularly. CPU load is hard to see, because the screen does not respond. Next time, i'll try to open a VNC / Radmin session. Perhaps that works. In the meantime I'm using destinator on my PDA... I can't trust Centrafuse (Destinator...?) at the moment... And I'm on the road a lot. Any ideas what to do next? |
