HD Radio + Equalizer
I was wondering if this is a bug or if its a problem with my system.
When Im listening to HD radio, the equalizer does not affect the sound in any way. I can adjust all the frequencies fully up or fully down and it has no effect. I can use the equalizer presets and it has no effect on the sound. Im using onboard sound (VIA VB7001) and im using the "line in" sound card input. Any pointers? I will post a system report in a little while.

I could be wrong, but.... it sounds like you might need to mute Line-In or Mic in the Windows Mixer, depending on which port the radio is connected to...

I think I tried it both ways with buffer mode on and buffer mode off. I will try it again tonight wen I get into the car.
I will also try muting & unmuting line ins & mic ins. Thanks for the tips. I will report back in the morning.

The first stream is the direct output from the radio being passed without any processing through the computer to the speakers (basically), and the delayed stream is the buffered (processed) stream. But if you enable buffering, you only want to hear the buffered stream; this is why you would want to mute the audio OUTPUT from the Line-In in the Windows Mixer. Define:buffer = In computing, a buffer is a region of memory used to temporarily hold output or input data [...] The data can be output to or input from devices outside the computer or processes within a computer. Because a buffered stream actually gets read into the computer's memory/storage, it is possible then to apply things like equalization to it. Perhaps David or Scott can explain exactly how audio buffering within Centrafuse works, but I hope that helps a bit.

Not quite sure how to word this... is it a seperate eq for the buffered radio stream? (as opposed to using the same eq/values as for regular media such as mp3s?)
I recall from my previous carPC project, that regular media sounded just fine, but when I fired up the XMPCR it was all tinny, and I wished I had been able to equalize it [seperately] -- of course this was a couple of years ago, before there was even XM support native to CF (I was embedding Frodo's SatelliteRadioX, IIRC.)

Thanks, this is really a good explenation. Now I understand the meaning of Buffering About muting Line-in, when I don't hear nothing at all (what I find normal, or CF as to open this when radio is turned on.Something like RoadRunner does when you use the HQCT radio module)
