RC-4 Problems with mixed audio streams when switching from Sat Radio to HD Radio
In case you couldn't tell from my FOUR posts tonight, I finally got my HD Radio receiver installed today. Was a lot of work but really worth it! Cool stuff!
I spent a lot of time getting everything up and running and I've got a problem/bug. I'm 97.5% sure that it's NOT my setup but, I could be wrong (it happens...all too often). Here's my setup... I have Buffer Audio enabled for both Satellite Radio and HD Radio. Using on-board sound card (Realtek) for line-out to car stereo and line-in for Sirius radio (via MJS interface and SC-C1) Purchased a USB sound card to give me an additional line-in for HD radio audio. In the Satellite Radio settings, I have... -Record Line-In Device = "Realtek HD Audio Input - Line Volume" -Playback Line-In Device = "Realtek HD Aduio Output Rear Blue In" In the AM/FM Radio settings, I have... -Record Line-In Device = "USB Audio Line" -Playback Line-In Device = "USB Audio Line" HD Radio was the last audio source playing....starting CF (from boot), HD Radio plays just fine. Switch to Satellite Radio just fine. But, as soon as you switch FROM Satellite Radio TO HD Radio, there's silence for about a second (Satellite Radio audio muted) and then it switches to HD Radio but, I get BOTH HD Radio and Satellite Radio audio at the same time. If I start in HD Radio, I can switch to MP3's...and back...all day long, everything works fine. I can switch TO Satellite Radio from HD Radio...no problem...HD Radio audio is muted properly and the Satellite Radio audio comes on. Just can't go the other way. It obviously has something to do with both devices using Line-In's but, they're different inputs on different cards. I've got the different inputs/outputs selected for the appropriate device. Is this a bug or is this something I've got setup wrong?

try setting playback device to "None" in satradio settings, this does not need to be set if using buffer-mode. It also says "Output" in ""Realtek HD Aduio Output Rear Blue In", if this is really an output, it definitely should not be set to this regardless of buffer mode or non-buffer mode... See the new FAQ thread for playback and record devices...

I set the "Playback Line In Device" for both the SatRadio and the HD Radio to "None". Made no difference; problem's still there.

Here's my system report.
The Satellite Radio audio is considerably louder than the HD Radio audio so, now I'm not 100% sure that I'm hearing both or it's giving me the Sirius audio stream instead of the HD Radio audio stream. Either way, when I switch from Sirius to HD Radio, I DON'T get HD radio audio (but the RDS info and all that whatnot are correct. I can even switch between HD-1, HD-2, etc...but no difference in audio). The only way I can get HD Radio working is to select it (having both/wrong audio stream), close CF, and re-open it. Then the HD radio works great!

I love logs. Without it we don't see this:
19:04:35> MAIN: a(): Current BASS Record Device Name = Realtek HD Audio Input 19:04:35> MAIN: a(): BASS Record Device Name 0 = Realtek HD Audio Input 19:04:35> MAIN: a(): BASS Record Device Name 1 = USB Audio 19:04:35> MAIN: a(): New BASS Record Device Name = USB Audio 19:04:35> MAIN: a(): Setting BASS device 19:04:35> MAIN: a(): BASS_RecordSetDevice() Error The bass audio engine is rejecting setting the recording device to your USB audio device. This is usually a driver issue, definitely not a CF issue... Could be a BASS engine issue, but users in the past that received this error fixed it either by reinstalling audio drivers and/or reinstalling windows... I know, not what you wanted to hear... Nothing else we can do on this though... |

Scott,
On the contrary, this is a fine solution! I'm not really that picky what the problem is, as long as I can fix it. And, reinstalling the drivers is something I can do very easily (as opposed to having to wait for the next release to come out). Just so I'm clear, I should reinstall the USB soundcard drivers?

This problem is still there in RC5.
