strange white background problem
Hi there,
I've noticed on both 1.7 and RC2 that after CF has been installed for 2 days, after 8pm (the night skin time change), the default skin is changing to having a very white background. The trouble is its staying white the next day, and the next night at any time. Can anyone help or shed light on why this is happening? It's not just a different skin, as everything in the background is white! |

There is an option to auto switch skins at a specified time, I'm sure this has to be what is happening...
I believe it was disabled by default. You can find it under settings/general and disable it, then your skin will no longer switch... You can auto switch the skins by holding down the DIM button in the bottom navigation for 4 seconds, it will automatically start switching... david |

Hi David,
I think it's something to do with the switching.. yes, the default was for the option to be off, I started the car up for the first time after 8pm and the skin changed, but I'm sure the auto switch was already set off. I then used the car in the morning, after 8am.. but the skin seems stuck, even with the force switching.. it seems to say "UPDATING SKIN" but then the white background remains. I then changed the skin manually between WS Day and WS Night, and there does seem to be some differences, although neither seems to show the white background like this does. I fixed this problem when RC2 was released, by uninstalling 1.7 and putting RC2 on, but the first time the car was used after 8pm this change happened, and now it seems totally stuck. I never had this problem with 1.6 I'll have another play, unless anyone else has any ideas? Matt |

Can you take a screenshot of this white background that looks different than the white skin so I can see what is going on?
It should not have changed if you had the auto switch turned off, this hasn't been reported by anyone else... david |

I had a play with the settings, and can not get it to revert at all now, even with 'Auto Switch' enabled.
PS Can I sneak one very quick question on here, that I can't find the answer to? What folder on the C drive should I put the UK maps for Destinator 6 in? Do I need anything extra? Cheers! Edit: oh dear, looks like the date is wrong on the box...

Quote:
The auto switching is based on the two times you give... So if you set the day switch time to 8:00AM, it would switch to the day skin every morning, if the night skin was loaded... Same goes for the night switch time... You place the maps in the installation folder... You will see the sample New York map in the same location... david |

I realise when I drove to work this morning that it was actually the day skin.. I thought it was the night skin all this time, that's why I was so confused.. and also why I tried putting the day skin for night and day to try and force it... feel a bit stupid now!
Thanks for the help, and I'll give the maps a go! Cheers Matt |
