My Review Of CF 2
( Quick Review That Is )
Although its not got a fancy Flash FE and some of the areas need a bit of getting used to I think I can best describe my 2.0 experince as...............
Wow.........
Functionallity is all there and bar the UK map issue ( which has been done to death else where ) it does what it says on the tin. I noted Jans comments re the sound on the Darkside some time ago so I had hi hopes been both an audio and a videophile.... I was not disapointed with some thing I have watched from its humble beginings well before Fluxmedia was well known.
My system finally came alive today from the point of sound ( even if I'm not happy 100% with the FE yet ) and its for this reason alone I put my money where my mouth is a few mins ago and went for the SE version.
It would have been the XLE version but until the maps issue and TMC ( Pro / Trafficsam ) is sorted I'm more than happy with where I am..... doesnt mean I wont make suggestions mind you
I have a few niggles to sort ( for some reason my Elm327 1.2a wont pick up on the ODBII and been in a right hand drive car the volume controls are in the wrong place.... plus return from hibernation is a tad longer ) but with all that in mind I am in hobby I love and this will take me to the next level.
Well done David & team..... well done indeed.
Terran
EDIT - Just one final point - I used Zorros plugin installer from Fresh - so much less hassle and well worth looking at as your first plugin

I guess I will add my review to the thread also.
I originally bought CF 1.2 SE. I didnt feel the need to buy XLE because I am strictly a iGuidance user. Originally my install started off small with not to many components, but CF seemed to be buggy, i was never able to get my phone to work, TV was cr@ppy, I simply wasnt happy with CF. I then decided to try SD, I hated that even more, so i stuck with CF (thank god I did). I then decided to trash my system and start over. My goal was to build a super multimedia system that can easily put a luxury car to shame. The goal was to have a ton of features, but to keep it 100% OEM and keep it in a sleeper looking state. When CF RC1 came out it was a huge improvement, I was very happy, but CF lacked multi monitor support (only a few things could be changed) I posted a thread and in RC3 I think, multimonitor support was added for just about everything that should go to the rear screen. This fianlly made me happy with CF and I became the SD basher that I am today. CF 2.0 Final is 100% stable, it transistions very nicely, and even with my 17 plus USB devices, CF comes out of hibernation in a very timely manner (about 4 seconds for CF to start playing music). I have not noticed any issues... My phone can actually pair with CF, and CF works ok with me using alot of external apps embeded into CF, with the exception of Sling Player (please I hope you guys are working on this). All in all, CF is the best off the self solution you can buy. The Flux team is constantly fixing issues, and they seem to listen to just about every complaint. I am very proud to be a CF customer and i look forward to being a future customer.

I am also very happy with CF.
However:
Activation is a PITA without a copy of your code, a keyboard and an internet connection.
Phone support is not compatible with a seperate hands free kit.
Video thumbnails make browsing videos take forever.
Destinator voice is crap.
Turn notifications need improvement.
Other than that it is a perfect front end. Very reliable, expandable and full of features.
