From an Australian perspective, my requirements are much simpler. Sure Destinator might be a rubbish engine, but combine that with a 3 year old set of maps, and you've got a system that is almost completely unusable.
The Australians in this forum have been asking for some time for something to be done on this. The rest of the world got a refresh on their maps to something at least vaguely usable, while we're left fishing the p2p networks to try to find something that can compare to a $200 nav system.
There has to be updates available, sure there will be a cost associated with then, but just tell us. When you've spent thousands on a system that has a major function that is navigation many will be prepared to spend a bit to actually make it usable.

Destinator is rubbish compared to other systems that have voiced streets, reliable route calcs, annual mapping updates, readible 3d maps etc.
Geoffwoz says Australian maps 3yr old......more like 5yr old I reakon.
I would pay at least $200 + extra in upgrading just for a Nav engine with updated maps.

For me the destinator works, but what me prevents from using it quite often are the voice commands! I hate it that I get every few hundret meters the same command again...
turn left in 3km .. turn left in 500m... turn left in 200m.... now turn left...
This is too much! (And sometimes I get the same command twice)
I see the thing with the open framework approach. - makes sense!
I hope that it will become more easy to implement Garmin and so on... So would be cool if everybody can chosse the thing he likes best! - even if it wouln't be perfect integrated!
Also I like that it will be possible to reuse the destinator which I already have purchased. Though I was hoping for a new system...
But please make the voice commands adjustable! I just want one preinformation and then the final command! Otherwise it's speaking all the time... and the voice istn't that nice either...

Phone does not currently work for me with my HTC Diamond. Sometimes it is so quiet that you can't hear it, sometimes the only sound coming through is a very loud buzzing/crinkling sound. I also have no contacts, phonebook.vcf isn't read properly. At this point it seems I might as well wait for CF3, when they might have a little more time to troubleshoot.
Reagan said voice will be unchanged in the initial release of CF3, except that it will be opened up for someone else to integrate better voice command.

I use the HTC Touch Pro and I do not have these issues. I also have it setup different though. Phone goes through its own soundcard with the SoHo attached to it.

Actually to clarify on the voice, I've been told that we have improved the SAPI implementation in CF3. I don't exactly what has been updated, but David can probably speak on that better than I.

I could have swore I hear that some place too...... I just hope it works with my setup. After CF 2.1 I lost the ability to use the setup I have. I am hoping now it will be fixed in CF3.

Hates Destinator (like many others)
I regret that destinator will be included in CF3 deeply.
like others told before: 3 year old maps, wierd routes, no custom speedcams/poi's and REALLY anoying voice anouncements.
there are so many other GOOD quality navigationpackages (Sygic is one of my favorites)
i saw the demo of CF3 at intel's website. it showed that CF3 got some neat navi-software by planet9.
can anyone of the CF-staff confirm this?

Flux left cr@pinator in CF, but they also included a new powerful plugin that can easily embed most popular NAV engines. Me I am opting to go with Navmii, they are the only Nav engine company that wants to work with Flux, when it comes to licensing. That is the issue as of now, companies like Sygic do not want to work with Flux because Flux isnt a big enough company. I like Navmii because it is in progress, like CF, so they can add things to cater to us. Flux has stated that once CF3.0 is out, they will start talks with GeoLife (Navmii) to replace Destinator with Navmii instead. Lets just hope everything goes as planned. As mentioned before though, anyone that currently has CF Nav edition, will not have to buy CF3 Nav edition. Instead you would simply copy the Map Folder from CF2 into the map folder for CF3.
