Seemless map...

Why split the maps into contries?

TomTom can use seamless maps of USA and Europe wich makes it a lot easyer to navigate throug a contry.

PC Navigator uses seamless splitted maps, wich is a HUGE improvement. Europe is one big map, but I can choose wich maps I need and just remove all contries I'm not going to use now. So if I decide to drive throug Europe I can just add those contries I need and it's a gigant map that does not need to be changed during the whole trip.

Since I'm using a powerfull PC and not a small handheld pda, I prefere to always use a map with all the contries included... If TomTom can cope with a 2GB map, why souldnt a PC do it?

Please add an option to connect the maps to a big seamless map, or include big seamless maps.

This is a Destinator option... The maps auto load without interaction, you should never have to do anything with the maps unless planning a cross regional trip, and even then you only have to load one major map, EURoads or USARoads to plan the cross regional route and then it will again auto load all the maps...

you don't have to switch to them as you drive through, that is automatic...

So loading EUroads will give me a full European maps with major roads only, but using that map will definetly not work throug Europe...

Do you mean that when I start driving it loads optimal map as I drive, or will it use the unusable EUroads map all the way?

If CF only uses the EUroads map it will not have all small roads, and therefore will not be usable to find a hotel and so on, also WHEN there is a missing road it will not be able to find a optimal route around since it only has major roads and when a new highway is available it will use the old roads anyway.... And the Q1 maps from 2006 is so old...

Automatic map changing does not work now.... If I do not set the Scandinavia map manually it thinks I am in Germany... But after I set it the first time it remembers that indefinately.

It would make sense to be able to create a route in a lower res map with only major roads for a looong trip, then use higher resolution maps as they are available for the area the car is currently in.

you should not ever have to load maps... are you using the maps from Flux?

EURoads is never used for navigation... It actually cannot stay loaded, the detailed maps if available will auto load as soon as it gets a GPS signal...

Now it will not auto load from the sample maps, but they are not even included in XLE... If you have the sample Berlin map loaded, it will not auto load other maps in the folder... The samples maps should not be present when using XLE with full maps...

as you drive from one detailed map to another it will auto load the next detail map if it is available...

No I am not using XLE maps. I'm using my old D6 maps Q1 2006. From what I have read in the forums, XLE maps are just as old...

I'd buy XLE if the maps where updated, they should be Q3 2007 by now...

They should be... Destinator should have us Q1 2007 soon...

Destinator only compiles EU maps in Q1, every year... Yes Navteq has Q3 data for 07, but most all company's pick a quarter that they compile every region for... Destinator does EU in Q1, North America in Q1, Aussie in Q3, etc...

I'm too used to TomTom with 2-3 map uppgrades a year... Epensive but worth it

But Q1 should be delivered in Q1... Not fun buying Q1 in "Q7"... I hope for your sake that Q1 2008 maps is delivered a lot earlier than the Q1 2007 maps.
