Cure the navigation hibernation problems!
Hi.
There is a problem sometimes when resuming windows from hibernation: Many gps devices don't properly resume their data transmission, so one has to restart windows. In the FAQ you propose to use the xport software. That is a nice software, but I think CF should use its own solution:
After resuming from hibernation, if the user goes into advanced preferences and rechooses the same serial port, the problem is solved!
So I presume if CF does that everytime it is sent the resume from hibernation msg from windows the problem should never happen again. Please in a next version close and reopen the gps's port in every resume.
Thanks,

this is the case already... I think the code is called before the devices is ready in some cases...
we close the GPS port on shutdown, and reopen on resume just like hitting the Save button...
Try to increase your Resume delay, which will make this code run longer... There is a master resume delay, and possibly one in Navigation...
maybe we should add a seperate resume delay just for the GPS receiver?
the main reason xPort works for people is because it resumes really well, so when Centrafuse try's to connect to the COM port, it is always there...
make your Resume delay like 20 seconds or something just for testing and see if GPS always work, then lower it until it breaks again and find the good position...
we could potentially have Destinator continually check for a position and if it doesn't get one close and reopen the COM port, I will look into doing this...

How do I increase the resume delay?
Thanks for your answer.
You say: Try to increase your Resume delay, which will make this code run longer... There is a master resume delay, and possibly one in Navigation...
Where are these numbers for me to change and test? The truth is that CF does sometimes achieve to restart the gps and sometimes it does not.

That would be easy (programming), and should always work! If you don't get ANY data from the gps port for a given period, then close and reopen it. I Think that's a godd idea...

you have to enable advanced settings to change the resume delay, I don't think we did one specific for navigation, but we might have, so go to advanced settings and look in navigation...
the other I believe is under General settings, but all in advanced mode

OK, There is a resume delay in both general and navi settings. I'll check and test and tell you the outcome here.
Thanks,

Hmmm...I'm going to have to check this myself. I get this sometimes with iGuidance!
The port is saved properly, but it needs to be re-entered sometimes, and resaved for it to read the GPS data...
It didn't clue into me that it might be a hardware issue
