Centrafuse Real Time Traffic support (TMC)

In order to use TMC within Centrafuse, you will need a GNS TMC receiver. This feature will be available as of 2.0 RC4.

Here is a receiver:
http://www.gns-gmbh.com/shop/xtc/pro...145455c18af182

And here is a GNS TMC USB adapter for that receiver:
http://www.gns-gmbh.com/shop/xtc/pro...145455c18af182

This receiver will create a virtual COM port, which you will then setup in advanced settings within Centrafuse by going to your settings then to Navigation.

This adapter allows you to use you existing GPS receiver, this is NOT A GPS receiver, but a FM RDS TMC receiver add-on for your system for traffic updates.

You will need two seperate receivers for this to work properly at the same time, which is why the adapter is recommended.

The GNS 9833 could be used as just the TMC receiver, but you will still need another GPS receiver for GPS functionality.

The GNS drivers do not properly create 2 COM ports in that the Virtual driver for the TMC does not work well in XP and doesn't work at all in Vista.

If you already have a GPS receiver, and already have a GNS 9833 you can make it work. Just use the 1 COM port for the GNS 9833 for TMC only.

All default installations of Centrafuse will include the ability to support the FREE Real Time Traffic data (TMC) in Europe.

The same adapter will work for TMC support in North America, but requires additional, very affordable, fees. This is already fully integrated into Centrafuse and tested for North America.

Purchasing these licenses in North America is still being strategically worked on by the Centrafuse team.

Jan, its worth pointing out that the 'free' TMC is only standard TMC in mainland EU and not TMC Pro which the Trafficsam plugin will give. Standard TMC is not available in the UK at all and traffic data will ONLY be available via the Trafficsam system..... although I have some Internet feeds that I would really love seen intergrated but thats another thread

Also there are GPS units with TMC available from Cartft.com how ever I'm not sure which GNS protacol CF works with and been Destinator based if the others such as Royaltech etc are also supported... ?

The advantge though of using the one you have suggested is that you can use SiRF on the GPS.... most of the GPS units with it inbuilt use one com port and intergrate the RDS stream in to the NEMA data therfore SiRF is not an option.

One further word - based on real life experince with TMC in the UK an external aireal is a must.... reception here is poor even with my OEM head which is why I think data over the net will be more reliable and more comprihensive.

Terran

BTW - Those devices above work out about £45 delivered to the door in the UK which is not bad at all....

Have an English link? lol

I am sure you guys have tested this around here in Atlanta right? I might be interested in making this purchase if it is stable and works well for Atlanta Traffic.

I'm wondering if this GPC/TMC reveiver will work also, is't a GPC/TMC USB mouse in one apparatus (so only one USB port occupied, and probably also only one COM port)

Wow every time I think my setup is complete, along comes something else I'd like to add.

I haven't been very successful at finding a store online to buy this in English. Has anyone else fond one yet?

Sorry guys, currently there just isn't anyone in the states that sells these things.

I do know that the sites listed WILL mail you one here in the stats, you just have to email them. Shipping won't be cheap, but it's better than not having it! Perhaps someone here would want to start a group buy?

We're currently working with some of our resellers to stock some of these.

Getting back to my comments re having an external connection for the receiver.... I had a look at Cartft.com today and they have a few under accessories but I dont want to post a link to a specific cable as I'm not 100% as to which of the three you need for your own cars etc.
