My remote party hears themselves, or there is a bad echo on the remote caller’s line.

This is a known issue.

Echo Cancelation / Noise Reduction (ECNR) is THE major obstacle in the production of hands free Bluetooth kits.

You may wonder why the car companies are able to implement this so well. These companies spend thousands and thousands of man hours perfecting the hands free feature. It's also worth nothing that they only have to worry about 1 system, 1 Bluetooth chip, 1 audio subsystem, and 1 microphone.

Out Bluetooth stack vendor is currently working on an even better solution.

A thread on a user setup for ECNR also has been dedicated by CF users here:

Yes, but only works for a 2 speaker setup. Will we be seeing this solution implemented anytime soon, or do you think it will be quite a ways out.

Also, what bluetooth dongle do you use/test with? I want to see if I can cut down the audio lag (currently 3-4 seconds)

What do you mean it only works for a 2 speaker set up? Voice through your speakers from your phone is not quadraphonic sound (infact it is probably mono) and therefore the cancellation effect working on the mic only needs a feed from 2 speakers for a reference of the echo. Any voice coming through your speakers is cancelled out of the mic not the other way around.

Yes I understand microphones are mono, i was refering to playback of other media. However, I read further into the thread abuot other 4.1/5.1 users, so perhaps I will give it a shot - After i hear Scotts reply (about the echo cancellation and also the bluetooth dongle). I would rather wait for an in house solution - rather than using this card.

Yeah, having to spend close to 100 dollars just to get the phone working is a big expense.

What I'm wondering is this, the Parrot systems have a mic that connects to a box before connecting to the stereo. I'm sure that the "box" is the one that is doing all the echo/noise cancellation, so I wonder if somehow that would be impleted just with the mic though.

I wouldn't wait till a software solution is coming out as with current release times of bluesloeil (who should provide this "inhouse solution"), can take another year or two...

By the way, software solutions in general have the downside that they use _A LOT_ of system resources, thus making the whole system slow and unstable. -Probably thats why there are no useful software solutions on the market.

Good setups cost investments in hardware, or does some of you use CF on a PII or so...?
