No volume control with HippoHifi Bloat USB DAC
Hi All,
I recently picked up a HippoHifi Bloat USB DAC from the group buy they had going over at MP3car. This is a fantastic little DAC, however i'm having trouble getting volume control to work in Centrafuse (2.0 Final) on Vista.
Currently if I try to play music with Centrafuse, it comes out at max. volume and the volume control within Centrafuse has no effect. What I did find however, is I can adjust the volume by using the Centrafuse slider that appears on the Vista mixer (see attached screenshot).
When playing music in say Windows Media Player or Foobar2000, their volume controls work fine.
I have noticed that the "Speakers" volume control on the Vista mixer has no effect on the Bloats output volume (which is what Centrafuse is adjusting). I have played with the "Use PRE as Master" setting within Centrafuse, but it has no effect. Vista doesn't appear to have a "Wave" channel like XP. How is the "Use PRE as Master" setting meant to behave under Vista?
Is there anyway to make Centrafuse adjust it's corresponding slider that appears on the Vista mixer rather than the "Speakers" slider?
Cheers,
Steve

does this device show up in the mixer at all? or are you just controlling the master windows volume?

Sorry for the late reply Jan (only just noticed your reply, auto-subscribe musn't be enabled?)
I've since gone back to XP, but IIRC the mixer in CF has two "Speakers" sliders. One was for the Bloat, the other for my G4's on board sound card (which I only use the Line In for the G4's radio).
Neither Speakers slider would effect the Bloat's volume. It seems the Speakers slider in CF maps directly to the Speakers slider in Vista's mixer. The "Use PRE as Master" setting appears to have no effect (with Vista), is this by design at the moment?
Anything else I can test / info I can provide to help?
Thanks,
Steve

Vista has what can be seen as "wav" sliders for each open application instead of one universal "wav" the way XP does for all sounds and apps combined.
Can Centrafuse be changed to include an option in Vista to control that one particular Centrafuse app slider?
