Lilliput 889GL, Intel 945GM1, and 800x480

Another 800x480 post? Well, kinda...

Just an FYI to anyone considering the purchase of the Lilliput 889GL (8" touch screen)...

I've read through an endless stream of posts regarding "how to" attain the elusive 800x480 "native" resolution of this, and similar, devices...it's apparently not possible on the 889GL. Ivan at Lilliput support reports, "889GL-80NP/C/T do not support 800*480 currently." Odd, since it's listed as the "native" resolution...

Lilliput, however, is willing to "modify it, and provide a improved 889 for your testing" I'm moving forward with this solution just to see where it gets me.

Also...MSI motherboard manufacturer ROCKS! They have bent over backwards to develop a custom BIOS for me (at no cost) which included my custom splash screen and all the tweaks to improve POST times on my Fuzzy 945GM1. They have also agreed to modify the video BIOS to support 800x480 once Lilliput makes the change to my 889GL.

The tricks using the embedded drivers do not work for this panel (plus they render my second onboard video port un-usable...and I need both as this is a multi-display setup). Powerstrip-tweaking and other similar tricks were also unsuccessful.

If anyone has had success via another method with this particular panel (Lilliput 889GL) please let me know; likewise I will post my results from my dealings with Lilliput and MSI as they occur.

Sorry to bump an old(ish) thread with my first post, but did you get anywhere with this? Kinda bummed that my shiny new 889GL rescales 800x480 to 640x480 and back again ;-(
