I agree..... don't go with setup 3, unless you really need it. Only reason is that you are maxing out the USB bandwidth with having 2 USB based sound cards. Alot of systems have issues running only one, so I can image 2 will be a headache.
Your install is similar to mine, I actually use 3 sound cards. One is for XM, HD Radio, Playstation 2, and another external audio source and is PCI. Then the onboard audio I use strictly for phone, with its own SOHO card, AMP, and speaker. The third is for rear seat head phones, which is the only USB based sound card, and its very very basic.
I know alot of people who use laptops say they do it for a reason, but my suggestion is build a nice setup that can accommodate more USB ports, and a PCI port for soundcards. Also laptops can become so obsolete really fast. The other day I bought a barebone kit for my office, with 2.0 dual core, 1GB ram, HD audio, and Win7 for $400.00, isn't that what a laptop comes up to? Except the PC can be upgraded, while the laptop cant.

Hi all.
on 19.12.2009 i got my soho card.
I made th enclosure from a plastic box with some modification and for me it look very nice.
The card works perfect and now i can use my carpc as normal heandsfree.
The only problem for me is that the person on the other side hear me very low. Th Mic bust is enabled.
When i record something with recording soft everything look fine but on call ... is low.
Maybe the soho card cuts the mic volume?
Please advice if there some specific setting or something.

Nice.
Regarding the mic volume. Have you enabled mic boost? I fine it's needed with all mic's.

I have a small AMP, its battery powered, its made for headsets that want to split one connection to 3 connections. What if I connect that to the mic? That should give it a nice boost.
I wonder if they make a inline mic booster, that physically connects to the mic.

Hi all
I have just bought the SOHO and installed it in a metal box, powered by USB from build in car pc. The screen from the USB cable is connected to the metal box.
The Power supply in the build in pc is a M2-ATX 6-24V DC/DC (160 Watts). And everything is working very nice, no Echo in callers end, and no noise, in callers or my end. A very nice solution, this card, happy to have bought it.

I got mine from here. Phoenix Audio SOHO — VoIP Supply. It looks like it has gone down in price by $5.00 dollars. I was $100.00, now its $95.00.
