That would be nice. And they might, if they knew there was a market for their system in an external case. They could also make it alot smaller too. Most of the board is un-used and be half its current size.

That looks awesome! Do you know if it works on a Mac? How do you have the card being hooked up to your PC in the external enclouse? I run my CarPC with a Mac Mini running OS X/Windows and there are no PCI slots on it...

You said windows on the mac mini, so I can assume its an Intel mini. I also must assume he's powering the card via the 5 volt rail off the power supply? (Correct me if I'm wrong here, couldn't find a clear shot in any of the pics). The mini would be a trick, because the power is all provided via sata connections (guessing again, haven't opened one of the newer intel mini's lately). It would be fairly hard to grab power from a sata power interface compared to a standard power connector, but not impossible.

It doesn't matter what kind of computer (Mac, Windows, Linux) or even if you have a pc at all (assuming you set it up like Salmizar). The PCI slot is only to power it, and Salmizar has modded it to be powered externally. Once that's done, it's only being connected between your soundcard and mic... pc, OS, etc doesn't matter anymore at that point.

Very nice mod, Salmizar.

You could use the 5 volts from a USB cable to power the unit externally. I am using a line from the 5v rail that I use to power my usb hub to power this unit. The configuration is the blue port to your mic input on your pc. The pink is for your mic, the green on the right to the output of your sound card and the green on the left goes to your speakers. The silver one on the far right is what I use to give power to it.

So long as you find power for the unit. It can run on virtually any system.

Can i say you did a very nice job on the casing.
Looks like a oem product to me.
So this should work for me to.
Only thing i have to wait for is the right BT stack and i'll order one for myself.

Two things have kept me from implementing the phone on my CarPC...this echo problem and the 5MB limit. Still waiting on the latter but wow, VERY NICELY DONE Salmizar!

I think I'll be picking one of these up now. Hopefully, by the time I get around to getting power and an enclosure for it, we'll have the 5MB limit problem resolved.

Sweet!

Hey Salmizar anything to report with your great looking mod yet. Im keen to hear your real world experience with this card in your car. Im also interested in the performance of one card connected to your front speakers whilst having sound coming out of your rear speakers. Does this also cancel echo from the sound that is coming from your rear? Or only the speakers that are connected to the card.

Looking forward to your reply

James
