Handsfree Echo Cancelling Using Phoenix Soho
I have started this thread because I have received a number of questions regarding this card. If you have any questions, post them and I will try and get back to you in a timely fashion.
I purchased this card primarily to eliminate the feedback callers hear from their voice being picked up by the mic.
I will not be testing this in my vehicle until the issue is fixed where when you receive a call and have sirius playing in the line in port, the Sirius audio is heard by the caller only (expected to be fixed in RC4 or RC5).
Initial tests yesterday were promising. It helps cancel the echo, although it is not 100% (90% effective thought). With the mic pointed directly at the speaker and the volume up, you can hear a slight echo, although the card does a great job of canceling it out.
I will be doing more tests in the next few days, as well as considering if I want to locate it within my low profile case, or making an external case for it. It only uses the PCI slot for power.

I understand yup. I would have to say no this will not work for your setup. It is only for 2 channel (left and right) systems. being in a truck I do not need 4 channel, so it will suit me just fine.
Now if you have your setup only running surround when watching a dvd etc, then you could route your front left and rights through this to get the same effect.

I am breaking for supper, but have been testing the pci port and its connections to see where power is coming and going. I want to place this in an external case. It looks to be powered by 5 volts.

I have now successfully powered the card externally. It uses 5 volts and I solders wires to a PCI riser card to accomplish this. I now have to make an external case for it out of arylic, which I just happen to have a bunch left from a refugium project.

Pictures to follow later tonight
That'll make the day of a lot of non-PCI slot having folks!

Picture time
Here are the pictures of the card, and the case I made for it. Still need to smooth the edges before its completed. I made this with a removable back plate in case it ever needs maintenance.
Also a picture of the mic, I personally dislike it, and will probably get a higher quality one to replace it.
You can clearly see where you connect your 5v power. Red being + obviously.

I do use a 4.1 setup in my car it's being amplified by my infinty.
I use it only as a front and rear setup not specificly for DVD.
But i will probaly still have an echo from the rear speakers then.
Or does the phone section in CF only sends audio to the front ?
Probably not, in that case i would need 2 of those cards

technically it should work with a 4.1 or 5.1 setup so long as you do not have any type of effect playing (echo, hall simulation etc). because it analyzes the signal from the speak and mutes matching signals from the mic (or at least I would assume). so it should pick up whats playing through the fronts and cancel them out, regardless if its coming from the front or rear.
