Now my install is getting so close to finishing... im going to try disconnecting all USB devices, my setup has alot. Maybe thats what is causing the issue... if not then Im going to back up my infor and do a reinstall of windows. I have a question though, my hard drive is a 2.5 Toshiba 250gb sata drive. I made the C drive 50gb and the rest is for the D drive which holds all my media. If I reformat, will i have to reformat the whole drive or can i simply reformat the C drive?

I notice that with Windows Update, when you install Windows the first thing it asks is if you want to install to service pack 3. Thankfully I have the SP2 disk.

Just a quick question, when you guys started to have this issue, did you guys have a constant internet connection like my install?

I do not have a constant internet connection, but don't think that has something to do with it...

HEHE, I ask because my Windows is setup to automatically download and install updates..... So that could be were the issue started, there was some update and now my system is out of wack.

Also will this issue still happen if i run CF in shell mode?

OK, today I went to a PC that doesnt have this resume issue. I turned on WMP then tried to hibernate. When i did, WMP said that hibernating or standby will cause the music to stop, you must hit play to resume. So how are you using WMP to see if this issue exsists Scott, if it doesnt have that feature? What other program can I trouble shoot this with?

Hi everyone,

To give you a bit more background on the issue, I was the user that did some testing and narrowed it down for Scott and the team.
I am(was, I'm not doing much at the moment...) an SOE developer and had 8 hardware types (all intel) at my disposal for testing.

I can confirm that:
1:The problem exists in XP SP1/2/3. (I dont have a pre SP1 edition to test with)
2:The problem is hardware independent. (Intel and virtual machines anyway)
3:The problem exists not only in centrafuse but any app developed in .NET using the SystemEvents.PowerModeChanged class.
4:The problem cannot be solved simply by emulating keyboard presses and mouse movements, I have tried both, it requires user interaction at a low level.

Those that dont have the problem either have a mouse/trackball of some sort or are simply not hibernating. (if you have a system that is touch screen only and does not display the symptoms, I would be interested to know)
Possible resolutions are
1: Get microsoft to acknowledge and hotfix the issue (considering 99.999% of their market are using mice, I'm not even going to bother)
2: A software solution via centrafuse (I did email a possible solution to Scott, however the solution is more a hack than a fix and I probably wouldnt like it in my production software either)
3: Build a virtual mouse driver that is installed into windows that moves the pointer 1pt to the left and then 1pt to the right every say 5 seconds. I'd do it myself, however I am no good with coding drivers. But maybe someone out there in the community is capable?

My 2c, please let me know if I can help in any way.

@adrenaln: hmm, I can remember, that I actually didn't have this issue until a certain point (RC5 or so)...

Although I believe that this is not a CF issue, HiJack is somewhat right that this issue could have been triggered by a windows update; even tough I do not have a persistent internet connection in the car i sometimes did windows updates via WLAN when I was at my home base...

I will do a fresh windows & CF install this weekend, so i can see than if this was caused by an update or not.

I run CF as the shell exclusively and have always had the problem.

Although my memory does fail me sometimes, I'm pretty sure this existed even in 1.2 for me. Stupid question but, you didnt by any chance have a mouse plugged in during testing on earlier releases? Perhaps Scott or someone from Flux can confirm if the resume code was inserted or changed in a particular release, or if it has always existed largely unchanged.

Like I stated above, I have gone to the trouble of even testing the .NET class on clean SP1,2,3 (no updates whatsover, just XP and .NET 2.0) machines with not even CF installed and the "bug" exists.

Good luck with that, I'd really like it to work for you, but I'm 99.999% sure it wont make any difference for you (I'll leave 0.001 just in case I'm wrong - Its happened before)

1. I agree, I uninstalled SP3, and still had the issue.
2. I hate Intel, so my setup is a AMD based system.
3. Could it be .NET updates that are causing the issue. I have seen alot of updates for .NET.
4. I agree.

Also you are correct, CF would not want that in there setup, but they could always release a plug-in to give people the option to add that feature.

All I know is that my system never did this and over the weekend i intend to take apart my system and figure out what went wrong. All my trouble started when i updated to RC7, but at the same time, I did alot of hardware changes on my system. I figure i'll start from scratch and slowly add each device one by one until I have an issue. Im also going to check my PSU, maybe the voltage is set wrong for shut down......
