currently we use the MapInfo maps, we found the Sensis maps very buggy, they could have been the same buggy maps you tested, which is why we found the MapInfo maps worked much better...

when they provide updates to us, we will probably get both and test both again to see which ones are better, no exact ETA on this though..

Your right ibfragalot, theres heaps of roads in melbourne that either aren't there or have been moved Australian maps really need to be updated i've gone off using the gps which makes me wonder why i paid for it. If i'd known before i bought the nav version i wouldn't have bought it.

v15.1 sensis maps for Australia

David, I totally agree. Version 14 (2007) Sensis maps were very buggy, on multiple devices that I've tested with (country and city), so I dont think it had anything to do with the navigation software you use. I have upgraded to Sensis v15.1 on multiple PND devices and it seems to be a big improvement regardless of the device / software.

I would strongly encourage you to test with both Sensis v15.1 and MapInfo 2008 data and offer Australian users a choice of either (if this is at all feasable). Failing that I would lean towards choosing Sensis v15.1 data for Australia based on what I have seen

David,

Sorry to be a pain, but what exactly is the delay on the destinator side?

I assume that they have these maps already, as Navigator based PND versions have access to these maps (from my understanding). So the maps should be available.

Are we waiting on them to be "ported" to the older navigator engine that we're running?

Are we waiting on them to give us a good price for the map upgrade?

It is just a bit of a pain that we bought the navigation side of this solution sight unseen (couldn't trial with local maps), find it to be somewhat substandard, and have no idea of when an end is in sight.

I know that you guys are busy, but I just don't understand why there is a holdup on maps, as they are things that I understand already exist.

Other than the quality of the maps however CF is a good product, and has come a long way in a short time. Unfortunately I have to tell others who are looking at using the system to hold off, as the Nav side of things is just not good enough due to these maps.

I'm currently using this version as my main map.
Australia - map of NAVTEQ. Reduced POI, HLG4, V1.4, Toll RoadS, WES2.
Version 2007.Q2.7389
Reduced POI is a bit of a pain as I could not find a Golf course. No sports grounds at all.

Destinator latest maps

Also found
MapBuildID=1345 Australia
Version 2007.Q1.5244 - map of Sensis. HLG4,MG1.4, Toll roads, D01, Signed map.
More POI but a little older. Sorry no link for this one.

And there is the original one from CF. I'm sure Jan will point out that CF will not support these maps. So use at own risk etc.
I have all 3 on the PC and change versions when I need.

we can't official support the newer maps, but glad they work...

the problems are all listed above... They have to be officially ported to the SDK group at Destinator, which takes a long time... The other is pricing issues with the minimum orders, which are HUGE, to get map updates once they are available...

we are doing everything we can to get the support, and map updates issues fixed with Destinator... Being a smaller company like Flux and dealing with Destinator, which the company was recently sold and the newer company is even harder to deal with, makes things difficult...

we are looking into all options and will give a solution to our users as soon as we get one...

Geeze, they (Destinator) are slack with map updates. Not that Flux is having trouble getting new ones, but it seems the latest version is over a year old? Boooo to them

I currently have the core Sensis v15.1 raw street data for a fleet tracking / integration project and was considering Centrafuse 2.0 as a possible addition to the solution (with nav but no other plugins). The platform is based on Windows Embedded Standard 2009 with .NET 3.5 so the platform synergies are there, which, frankly, has been difficult to find. Would flux be able to get this 15.1 data encoded so that it could be used for a volume Centrafuse site license?
