I have a BU353 and have it set up with the same settings that you do. I haven't had any problems except with Hibernation. The GPS wont re-initialize after hibernation, but I believe that is a Windows issue, and not an issue with either the GPS receiver or CF.

I do have my GPS set up using NMEA and yes I agree that this problem mostly occurs after the pc wakes up from hibernation. However if it was a windows problem then Sygic would be having the same problem as CF.

Have you changed the hibernation delays in Settings? I had to in order to get the BU-353 to initialise properly after hibernation.
General Settings / Delay on Resume = Yes and increase Milliseconds to Delay on Resume
Also Navigation Settings / Delay on Resume = Yes and increase Milliseconds to Delay on Resume

I also have the random issue of the gps not initialising on starting CF. The only way I can sucesfully get it working is to go to settings>navigation>change from Nmea to sirf, save it and then back to nmea. It will work each time but seems a great hassle. Initially i thought it was the port or speed but it seems to initially attach to sirf.
Any way of removing sirf option or disabling it?
Any comments?

If anyone is having issue with this, please follow the post from user ivan. CF 2.1 as David mentioned also has some new code that should help eliminate these problems...

Well just as a note, I also have the hibernation issue, but it has nothing to do with CF. Its a Windows and hardware issue. Using Xport to simulate that the USB is being unplugged and plugged back in, did the trick for me.

Hi , I still have this annoying problem of the GPS randomly initialising. I can not understand why outside (boot to Windows) the GPS works each time but when you load CF, it will not connect to your chosen port continually? This seems strange that others have had this problem and the only solution suggested - seems to run an external app like Xport, which by the way seems to still give random initilisation of my GPS. I'm no guru but something that CF is doing to not guarantee initialisation of the GPS. Ive tried different VIA boards with the same problem and full rebuild too.
also
Once I installed CF, everything connected almost immediatly on boot including wifi and bluetooth connections to phone and mouse. Once CF was run as a shell, I loose connection to the mouse and it takes about 2 minutes for bluetooth phone connection to happen. Any suggestion would be most helpful as it's now taken me many weeks to sort out what I thought was easy plug and play S/W
Thanks again
