Hi, I'm sorry to report that I am also still having the same problem with CF randomly seeing the GPS receiver.
I've tried all the suggestions posted including the updated software and alternating hibernation setting etc.
I don't believe it has anything to do with coming out of hibernation as I have the same problem from a full reboot. However, whenever I've launched Sygic from within CF it sees the GPS first time, eveytime with no problems. I would prefer to use the embedded Nav of CF, but whenever it doesn't see the GPS I end up having to use Sygic.
At this point I can't see how this is anything other than a problem with CF itself as all other GPS apps that I've used on this system work prefectly.

it might be Centrafuse, but it must be something Centrafuse does not like with your specific system or GPS receiver as we have thousands of users who do not have issues...
you are running the latest 2.1 release? We did make additional improvements in this release for GPS connections...

David, I take your point that there are many who do not have an issue but there also many that do from what I read. I've downloaded the latest version and have tried on two different EPIA miniITX boards. Have "slowly rebuilt the PC multiple times with latest drivers etc but when it comes to connecting the GPS unit I need to constantely change the settings in CF (navigation) save and reenter different parameters and hopefully get a conection. Can you suggest what further I need to check as its the only oustanding issue I seem to have... Is there something in the bios or windows set up for the port that I need to confirm? Perhaps I do not have the latest PL2303 driver????where do you suggest i download one?
I suspect the port is "grabbed" or allocated by some other device such as perhaps bluetooth> How do I check this?
Many thanks for an otherwise excellent GUI.

That should be working with the latest code... It won't be anything in your Bios or anything...
Try xPort again after getting 2.1, set it to talk to your GPS, create new lower than number 10 COM port for Centrafuse, and try that...
We do read about the issues, but we never can reproduce them here... Bluetooth GPS is just not reliable, I always recommend a serial GPS receiver most everyone makes one and they NEVER stop working, most machines still have atleast 1 real serial port you can connect to on the motherboard... Serial is what we use in all our personal vehicles...
as for USB, there are many conflicts, system specific, Hubs, power issues, connectors, driver versions, driver conflicts, virtual COM port conflicts...
we get them setup and working here, but I understand that it is not completly straight forward...
as for why saving again works for you, that makes no sense... In 2.1 it constantly basically closes/opens the COM port if it does not detect any sat's found, so basically if the number of locked sats stays at 0, every few seconds in 2.1 it is basically opening that dialog, changing the COM port, and hitting save again...
2.1 fixed it for most all our customers that had issues in support...

it is WAY more stable with Destinator, also many people think they have a SiRF receiver because it says so on the box, but they almost ALWAYS come delivered in NMEA mode and you need special software like SiRFDemo (which is hard to find now), to re-flash the chip on the GPS receiver to ever make SiRF work...
use NMEA, that is probably what your issue has been...

My GPS (Holux GR-213 serial) is "re-flashed" (with Sirfdemo) to work in SIRF-Mode and it works anytime without problems in CF!

David,
I am using version 2.1. Presently 80% of the time CF does not see by GPS unit regardless if the computer is coming out of hibernation or is a cold boot. When it doesn't see it what can sometimes work is going into advanced settings and reselecting the com port of the gps and saving. You say that 2.1 refreshes the comm setting, but if that's the case how does it not work in this case?
All my hardware is listed in my profile, if you think there may be a problem in the configuration I have please let me know.
