BU353 and CF
Okay, before you all jump on me, i've searched this topic relentlessly for several weeks, so many times i've almost run out of my trial edition of CF2.0 without having found a solution that is suitable.
Ive had so many issues with the BU-353 i really dont understand how anybody has had a clean sheet with this one! I run my car pc from a laptop and it runs brilliantly, no hickups from centrafuse whatsoever apart from this bloody navigation! It just seems to run whenever it wants to, no direct reproducable concern, i can't replicate when it wants to work and when it doesnt, but its definately more not working than is. I've tried hybernating from windows and from centrafuse iteslf, sometimes it comes out and works, sometimes it doesnt. I've had perfect compatibility with other software, such as sygic. I'm rather gutted as i'd love it all to work :/
I currenty run it at 9600 on com1, gps info finds satelites without a hitch, and rather quickly! I have set the com to 1 from device manager, the baud rate is also set to this. I've searched and tried everysingle thread/idea about this and it still only seems to work completely randomly! The settings within CF-advanced are set correctly, i've tried the devcon method of disabling/enabling with a batch pid script. I've used sirfdemo to sync, tried with sirf and with nmea, upping and lowering the baud. This problem is the only thing stopping me from purchasing this nice piece of code! If i could overcome it i would sign up and you'd have my cash tomorrow.

Ive tried using it, and it still gives me the same issues, what were your circumstances? Was your com at something like 10+ and dropped it down below 6? I was at 8 and moved it to 1 with xport but still had the same issues, its really bugging me.

Same GPS Problems
After upgrading to CF 2.0 my GPS navigation won't initialize randomly. It run's perfectly with GPSInfo App, but not on CF. Port settings are correct, since it sometimes works. What to do?

I have tried xport to a degree, with still the same outcome, I'll have another go, I've read that centrafuse likes the low ports so I'll aim it at 2or3. I've found it's definately a hybernate issue as works fine each time after a fresh boot, but only randomly after a hybernate! I could cope if the devcon method worked but it also doesn't seem to, perhaps I should try a fresh format and install, urgh.

bu353 GPS FIX
OH OH i have the answer , just found the problem
using CF advanced settings NAV put your port setting to 8 and then using Xport default the main port to what your device manager is detecting it as eg port 6 prolific then tick the box now make sure that it say 8 on the first allocated virtual port then 16 20 24 26 28 ect
thats it she will work now , i have tried for two days works a dream
close down pc reboot and you will be up and running
must have bu353 seeing port 8 in CF
any other port under 8 ok but you will probably find that they are being used by other devices so 8 is the one
if you find 8 is taken in CF
find what device is using it and reassign the port by clicking on its properties and reassign it
that will fix it
this will definetly get you up and running
cheers

Sounds good!
Thanks a lot. I'll give it a try today and will let you know how it goes. I did try XPort and helped a little, however CF still does not initialize GPS randomly. I think your setting should work good. I'l try ASAP

Hi,
Has anyone been able to confirm that this was the solution?
I'm having the same problem where CF doesn't see the GPS, but other apps like Sygic and GPSinfo see it with no problems.
I've been using com2 at a baud of 4800.

Which protocol do you have selected in settings? You must have NMEA. One year ago Im use this BU-353 with CF without any problems...
