Has anyone tried one of these: Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 - Expands your music and movies into surround sound
Its new from soundblaster and am thinking of getting one to use with my Infill G4 but not sure if the G4 will be powerful enough and whether the mixer will be controllerble through CF. Anyways hoping somebody can provide feedback Cheers James |

I think in the MP3Car forums, maybe even this one, i have heard bad things about this card. I was going to upgrade to this, after trying out the Turtle Beach SRM (which is garbage). In the end the comparisons between the Live 24 and X-Fi werent all that much to get me to switch. Not to mention all the issues people with this card are having. So far, in my view, the Live 24bit seems to be the best.

Hi HiJack,
The issues that you experienced with the Turtle Beach SRM, are they only when you tried to access the radio? Did it work fine otherwise? Also, do you have an AMP? Was there a loud POP every time you put the G4 into Standby? I'm after a USB powered Sound Card that fully recovers from Sleep without any issues. I currently have a G4 and a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 NX which max's out on the volume when ever resuming as well as CF not recognising the card until a restart of CF. Thanks. |

I use the Creative Audigy 2 NX, pretty good sound but crappy drivers. The system has fixed speaker output settings and i can use it either in 4 speaker mode (without sub) or 5.1 mode, missing the center. There is no 4.1 channel mode for some reason.
Also the system for sending 2 channel sound to all channels (CMSS) loses its settings every reboot and has to be disabled and then enabled again. I am waiting for someone to try the XFi before i jump and upgrade. cheers. |

Here is a link to the thread that explains how to use it. I have attached the files to this thread, all you need to do is find the hibernate trigger program. The soft shutdown and startup files you put into hibernate trigger and they will stop and start the service while hibernatining....
