Exclamation XBox 360 Chatpad Messenger Keyboard hack?

I just noticed this awesome little keyboard that's for the XBox 360. It's called the "Chatpad" keyboard.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x...0messengerkit/

It would be perfect for a CarPC as it's QWERTY and seems to have most all keys easily accessible. It also claims BACKLIT BUTTONS!

I have this one:

http://store.mp3car.com/Mini_Key_USB..._p/com-005.htm

but it's not as convenient as I thought it would be, and ended up just finding a "real" keyboard that's fairly small. It's still too big though and i keep it in the glovebox.

The problem with the XBox one is that it uses some goofy-*** plug so that it can snap into a controller (good for them, bad for us).

Anyone know of a way to 'hack' it to be just USB? Or some kind of adapter maybe?

That is exactly the one I have too. I find it kinda sucks as well. It's cheaply made and so the keys don't always depress properly. I spend a lot of time correcting misspellings. I thought that little Xbox keyboard would be great to have maybe mounted up on the visor or something. or in the center console area since it's so small.

why not try it whit a xbox controler?

conroler works with usb, then you can make the buttons work with the audio control?

and if you'll take it appart you can fit it almost every where you want ...

If money is no object...

Then have a look at this...

I would say why bother with cracking an Xbox keyboard when this beauty is available ... Will look sexy in any car installation.

Ive got this one and it works great. Its wireless & has a built in touch pad which comes in very handy at times. It fits perfectly in my glove box too. (I have a decent sized glove box though)

They have them for $85 shipped on amazon.com and buy.com...

returning now to a thread in progress...

By the way, there is a huge thread on this topic (that I didn't see originally when I posted mine)

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/inpu...-keyboard.html

the long and short of it is that nobody has gotten the Chatpad to work.

I bought this keyboard @ this webshop

I must say its a really nice keyboard, normal qwerty layout and u got every button except the right mouese button(normally directly on left side of the right CTRL key) and the numpad..

for users without a PS/2 port...dont buy this keyboard since it only supports PS/2....

I like this keyboard, and i'm glad that I bought it.

i was wondering....

why do you guys need a keyboard for your car pc ?

i rarely use windows on my car pc
only when i transfer stuff (music videos)
and when i really need a keyboard i use the virtual keyboard that windows offers...
