Relay Boards

I'm looking to add support for at least one initial relay board. What do most people use?

This is one I have found that includes decent source code for implementation.

Post any information about better boards or boards that already have API or SDK's included with them.

That would be great, I was just looking at adding one of these to my car for controling footwell / ground lighting but will now probably wait and see what boards you end up supporting.

Hi David
Why just keep it simple use something like port95nt then we can make our own hardware ?

David, I am currently using the interface from Dashwerks, Inc. Very good and compact enough to fit in.

I am posting here just to make sure you know that accessing hardware is prohibited for CF (frontends) !
I don't know what you want to read/write from the outside world - but if it would be the oil temperature you can read that from an assembly which is "open source" and documented - into this assembly you can include your "controlling relay board" algorithms.
Imagine somebody is able to read the oil temp from the CAN Bus (CAN Bus adapter)...
Same for window control and stuff...

your question:
Their is no kickass IO stuff at the moment... and a lot of wires from your engine, doors and boot to your IO board (whereever you place it) suck IMHO.
What we need are some decent cheap CAN IO nodes (with Input and Outputs like the stoopid relay baords)...

David,

Will you be supporting this?

http://www.fusioncontrolcentre.com

A USB control board called ''The Fusion Brain'' allows for 12 on/off outputs, 4 on/off inputs, and 10 analog sensor inputs. $50!

This is a comparison of the competition

Good call, I was going to mention that one. Very cheap for the functionality!

plan to build a generic plugin for this type of interface and then include it in the SDK so it can be changed for the different boards...

but the basic framework, skin, and settings will already be built...

on the list of plugins to get built...

The good thing about this board is that it already has its own skinnable software, so it could easily be embedded in CF in a similar fashion to the Nav software plugins....
