Control Knobs

Wow, check this out.

http://www.ccstick.com

These knobs and controls are awesome. I've always liked the idea of hardware buttons for things like volume and changing modes.

Has anyone used these?

Mybe he can tell us more about this.
And remember Zorro: picture says more than 1000 words; how many words can movie say

I am cirtainly one for twidly knobs and such and I must say the first thing I thought when I saw the iMon Ultrabay was "it looks like a double din head unit".

Ok so it will probably cost the earth and be a complete toy but if we use that philosopy we would all be using 30 quid ALDI head units. I WANT ONE!!!

Something else that might be of use is Joy2Key allows you to map joystick commands to keyboard shortcuts. Mate that to something like a flight stick (with the twisty hand grip) and you have rouself the makings of an iDrive like interface.

Wow just bought this one and with this additional driver software its awesome. It takes a little work to set it up buut in the end its well worth it. Best of all you can use it as your mouse when your outside of CF as well.

http://www.3dconnexion.com/products/3a1d.php

Here is the link for the 3rd party driver and software you need to make it work with CF and as a mouse.

http://www.3dconnexion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=336

Can't wait to get this installed in place of my PowerMate.

!!!!Update!!!!
I've got it installed in the dash bezel check out the following link.
Geek my Skyline

Now with my install I removed the Stainless steel base and the two side buttons(figured I could use the push/pull functions for my mouse clicks all the more I will use it as a mouse) to mount it in the dash.

Jamskate - can you give some specifics on how to make it work with CF? I am considering buying one, but I am wondering what exactly is required to make it work with CF (other than installing the driver referenced in your post). How does it control CF? Details!! Thanks!

Well if you read the forum where the drivers are it gives the details but in a nut shell here ya go.

It allows you to program all the different functions of the controller to just about any function/key stroke. It creates profiles for different programs and can be set to autoswitch profiles when you change programs i.e. control CF and then when CF is minimized works as a mouse.

In all there are 14 Functions/Movements(i.e. up/down, left/right, twist, etc - see website) to program and they can all be programmed with a long or short hold function so that will give you 28 different options to program. In short you could program just about all the function of CF if you wanted(I think in a car app thou it might be hard to keep them all straight). You can even adjust the senstivity and dead zone of the controller(helps prevent accidental movements on rough roads)

let me know what else I can do to help.

P.S. It is alittle bulky and the base weighs quite a bit(I would advise doing an install similar to mine to cut down on foot print size) It is very easy to take apart thou.
