Question VAG-COM Question.

Dear all,

I have a VW Mk4 Golf PD TDI 2002 and want to use OBDII in Centrafuse. As I understand Centrafuse does not support vag-com (yet) so this is not possible.

However, I would really like to purchase the correct cable (USB) for use with Vag-Com software for my carpc in windows but i've no idea which cable to buy and where.

Any help would be appreciated sooo much.

P.S. Luvin' Centrafuse 2.0 by the way.... :-) Top job..

You purchase the cable from Vag Com directly....just the same as you would purchase the software from them.

You cannot use a normal OBD-II cable with the Vag software AFAIK.

Yeah - a regular OBD-II scanner will still read basic OBD-II info....it works in my GTi as well.

You just won't be able to see anything advanced or run any diagnostics.

i got a golf mk5 gti, and im looking at doing this aswell. i was hoping to get fuel pressure as in FSI engins its 100bar and no gauge is taht high!!, i also want tog et manifold pressure and pretty much all other info in centrafuse OBD2 functions. will centrafuse eventually support VAG COM? as im tossing up to either get
ELMSCAN 3 blah whatever for GTI or vagcom.

you can buy cheap generic cables off the bay that works with vagcom but only the earler release of it 3.2

it will let u use it for error scanning etc , but vagcom wont be fully functional because you have to purchase a serial key for vagcom , which you get if you by a genuine lead from them

For what, a VW? You cannot get detailed information from a VW with a generic Vag cable.

You have to purchase the Vag-Com cable and software to get detailed information from a VW.

You should be able to get some basic information, I have a -99 audi s3 wich is basically the same car, and I can get readouts from pretty much all the sensors that are displayed in centrafuse.
(even though it only worked for around 10-20 seconds before i lost connection) you should be able to get faultcodes for the engine aswell.

I had a obd2 interface wicih allowed me to change settings in the bios and if I changed the "Header value" i could get faultcodes for other cu's aswell, like abs, hvac and so on.

In short, your car supports obd2 commands, so yes with the right cable you can use centrafuse for readouts etc.

But for full redouts and programming of different functions in your car you need, a licensed Vag-com software and a interface with K/L KK/L -mode.
