Text to speech Song Announcer

I would like to suggest to the developers who are out of ideas: a plugin that would announce the next artist and song to be played in a playlist.

It could use Text-To-Speech engines (for SAPI5, and other on request) that will announce you the artist and title of a song that starts playing. When you randomize over a huge library or playlist, and you have no idea what's coming next, and you don't want to check the display everytime (perhaps to tell somebody else in the back who can't read it, this can be pretty cool. Useful also for Electronic/instrumental music, which sometimes are hard to tell one from another.

I think this could be pretty cool, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement. I got the idea from this plugin for MediaMonkey:

What do you guys think?

I agree - I'm not sure I would want the next song announced over the music.

I think there's a reason they don't do this over the radio so much.

Though, that's the beauty of this software. If someone wanted to develop it and make it available for others, they can!

I'm not sure how much I would use this but it should be very simple to make so I'll knock one up.

I'll try and give it as much customisation as possible. For example: The format of the announced text, when to announce songs, etc.

No problem :-)

This version is pretty simple but I'm happy to expand on it if there is a real interest.

Once it's passed moderation you can download it here:

(1 hour 36 minutes for a new plugin, I think I've set a PB!)
