Smile huawei e180 plugin.

Hi.

A plugin to control the huawei e180 USB modem would be nice.
I haven't found a way to set huawei e180 to automaticly connect to the internet at startup. I can only disable the PIN.

If anyone knows a good way to auto-connect i would also like to hear from You.

Thanks.

\Mads Bekekr.

We use these Huawai modems at work, and one time the KPN (provider) software stopped working.. My collques had to work, so had to make a way around.

I programmed some little script through hyperterminal, that would run when you'd connect.

If you could write such script, link it with the dial up connection, and set the dial up to auto-connect, you problem would be solved

My script looked like this:

proc main
transmit "ate1^M"
transmit "at+cpin='0000'"
transmit "at+cpin?"
transmit "at+cops?"
transmit "at+csq"
transmit "at+cgreg?"
transmit "atd*99***1#"
endproc

I honestly don't think it would work 1:1 with yours, but maybe its something..
Save my script as a scp file, and do the folowing
In the property window of the dialup connection, the tab Security gives you the option to run a script. Click browse and select the script.

In the options tab you have to unselect 'ask for password.. '

And in the first tab the phone number should be *99#

Good luck m8!

I also have a few qns.

Does this plugin still need MWconn installed separately?

Prior to installing this plugin, I've already installed MWconn in english under default Start Menu\Programs\MWconn folder.

After installing this plugin, I noticed MWconn splash/status screen becomes German so I thought another instance of MWconn was installed. To rule that out, in MWconn plugin settings I turned off the last 2 options not knowing what they do because there was no other obvious option to do so.

On the next resume, I was prompted to install MWconn (again?). I thought perhaps MWconn was corrupted and proceeded to accept the prompt to install in english once again. If I remember correctly, I was again prompted the same thing on the second resume.

That was when I checked and notice there was another MWconn folder within MWconn with 2 sets of files witing each ie. Start Menu\Programs\MWconn\MWconn

So I proceeded to delete both MWconn folders to start afresh.

I thought I should uninstall and reinstall the plugin first to see if I would still need to install MWconn separately but couldn't find an uninstall in add/remove despite the plugin having a installer. So I manually deleted both MWconn in CF and Local Settings plugins folder. However, after reinstalling the plugin, it can no longer be found in CF settings and also did not install the MWconn.

What could have happened? Did I missed out something in the readme.txt during translation? Hope someone can offer better translation than Google, Babel Fish or Bing.

How do I get the plugin showing and working again?

Do the plugin handle auto-connect during startup/resume and auto-disconnect before sleep/hibernate?

Thanks MarcelP.

Ok a reboot fixed the MWconn plugin not showing up and the multiple instances of MWconn running is probably due to having both MWconn set to run on windows startup as well as having the plugin which also seem to auto-connect.

It seems my existing MWconn config is not working very well with the plugin but I'm sure with the correct config, it will.

I'm not sure why the original threadstarter Mads Bekker needs to minimized CF to connect. Perhaps there was no DUN created or he did not set the DUN entry as default. For me, the default dailer the 3G modem came with will create a Dail-Up Networking (DUN) entry which works with the CF connection button to connect but not disconnect. However, it's useless because DUN on its own will attempt to connect despite not setting it as default connection and disabling the auto-connect check box. All these brings about a set of problems.

Interested in how you guys configure the whole DUN solution so that:

1) DUN is being controlled by MWconn, this plugin or other solution so that it does not acts on it own because on its own, it gives problem as describe below.

2) DUN is automatically disconnected before sleep/hibernate because for me if DUN is not disconnected, Infill G4 com1 gps port screws up upon resume from sleep/hibernate. Also, DUN will attempt to reconnect when the modem is not ready and DUN error screen will pop up to cancel or retry. Will this plugin accomplish this auto-disconnection or do I still have to enable "Terminate when PC goes standby" in MWconn cfg?

3) DUN to connect/reconnect automatically. I'm on unlimited plan so for now it doesn't matter if I've no control over auto-connect but it's good to be able to control so that I can do (4) below. It seems the plugin do this as explain by the multiple MWconn running attempting to connect so I'm now trying to set MWconn cfg "At every PC start, start also nothing" and disable "Automatically connect at program start" to let the plugin do the connection. However, it seems DUN window still show up from time to time which is not what I want.

4) DUN not to connect automatically if I were to switch to volume-based plan when the plan expires.

It seems not many of you have issues with DUN so how do you all configure your DUN entry and MWconn?
