If I'm not mistaken, during my short exploration with the first version of Sound Announcer, it uses the robotic sounding default TTS voices that come with WinXP or Speech SDK 5.1 on my car PC. Perhaps I did not select Microsoft Anna TTS (I've installed for use with Garmin Mobile PC as it supports it) as default in Speech Control Panel.
However, again during my short exploration of the updated Sound Announcer on my notebook, it seems to be using the more natural sounding Microsoft Anna TTS (checked MS Anna TTS is selected as default).
I may be mistaken as testing time is short and CF is currently refusing to load after installing/updating some plugins (will find out later which one is causing Remote Access Connection Manager error, high cpu and hard disk usage).
If anyone is interested in MS Anna TTS, you can download the trial version of MS Trips & Streets 2009
here and extract the MSTTSEng_21 folder to install. Vista users do not need it as MS Anna TTS already comes with it.
Edit:
Ok. Just found out it is the latest version of Sound Announcer causing CF to hang. Tried MS Mike TTS with same result. If music was playing when exiting CF, Sound Annoucer will announce the song at loading screen. That's when CF will hang. If music wasn't playing when exiting CF, CF will resume fine. However, if I were to manually skip to another song, CF will hang. Resuming and skipping songs do not have an issue after I uninstalled Sound Announcer to troubleshoot. Able to duplicate the issues twice by reinstalling and uninstalling again. On the second uninstall, CF initial setup wizard that you only get upon first run started... weird.
Event viewer no longer logs Remote Access Connection Manager errors. Could be separate issue or when PluginBrowser and/or SkinBrowser attempted to check for update but failed to do so when CF hang.
Scott, hope the above can help you fixed the issue in your next update at your own time.
