NEW Car2PC Plugin under development

I'm considering getting one of the newer VW GTI's (4 door model with dual din head unit). The issue I'm seeing is that I want to replace the head unit with the Infill G4 and use the steering wheels buttons with the Car2PC adapter. I think this means that I'll need to find somewhere to put the factory head unit so the functions will work. Is my logic correct?

Yep. The Car2PC adapter plugs into an Aux or CD input port on the headunit (usually) so you'll need to keep the headunit if you want to keep the steering wheel buttons functioning.

You might have the FTDI drivers installed. http://car2pc.com/downloads/ftdi_win32_car2pc.zip

Try it out and let me know. You can use the FTDIUNIN.EXE file inside the FTDI drivers to uninstall it. Extract the VCP drivers to a folder. Reboot... and when it asks you for the drivers, point to the VCP drivers folder.

The VCP drivers should work with both Centrafuse plugin and Winamp.

Thanks for the fast response. It's between the GTI, Mazdaspeed3, and Civic Si Sedan. I'll start a new thread to discuss the merits of installs in those 3 vehicles.

The version 0.5 from first post not have config file (config.xml) and car2pc not appear in centrafuse configuration menu.

I'll be releasing the latest version tomorrow (UK time) which will be recompiled in .net 2 and will work with the latest 2.0 beta of Centrafuse. The main feature will be the context dependent configuration and hopefully a fix to the config dialog not appearing over the main window.

After that I hope to do some work on getting the plugin to display details on the headunit display depending on whether my headunit supports this.

@stoker here is what's in the config.xml file:

This is from an old version. I don't have the code on this machine so I can't remember if it's changed on that version. If it doesn't work I'm sure Nintwala will be able to help you. I'm not home tonight so can't check but I will get the latest working version posted up ASAP.

If peeps still wish to run the car2pc plugin with the old 1.47 version of Centrafuse please let me know and I might stick with .NET 1 for a bit longer but I'd rather not if possible.

I don't know what happened but that download is completely erroneous and should never have been posted. It's missing the main DLL!

If Nintwala is around later he should be able to post the current version but I will post a new version tomorrow for sure so keep an eye out

NEW RELEASE!

Version 0.6 is available for download in the first post.

Major changes are:

• Recompile for .NET 2 (good news for us developers)
• Context based commands (make the headunit buttons do different things depending on where you are in CF)

I've not had a chance to test this much with the new version but I gave it a quick spin and although there are some UI issues in the settings (settings page redraw issues and missing com port number after selected) it does seem to be working.

@Nintwala - Actually tested on the car now. Guess what? No dialog boxes appearing under the main window!! Maybe the new CF version addresses this but check it out and let me know if you still need that hacky fix in place and I'll update it.

how I read commands from Car2PC ?
in Aura skin right options disappear in config screen, later I try with Onyx skin
Load new song = Play new song?
and previus? not in actions list

which are tags <NT>, <PT>, <PA0>,<PA1>,.........
