While David is adding those new actions I'll probably being adding support for customizing the actions.

What I was thinking was having a screen, I guess in the settings, where you press the button on the headunit and then select the action you what to associate with it. Then I wouldn't even need to know what commands the Car2PC supported for that particular headunit.

That would be pretty cool huh!

nintwala does your headunit support text display?

You might want to look at the old Car2PC plugin. It had the settings for choosing what button does what... so people can customize whatever. Check out the screenshots. Basically when you pressed a button in settings page, it would pop up the list of actions and let you pick what that button should do.

One thing that was missing was the COM port. Even though the setting had the option to choose a COM port, the Car2PC plugin only worked on COM2 port. I had to troubleshoot and finally figured out that it was only working on the default COM2. It would be nice to have that option in this plugin, so when the Car2PC adapter is on any other COM port (COM3,4... etc), it will still work and not just on COM2.

My headunit just displays the Disc and the Track. But I know Car2PC adapter can send the track info to the headunit. Unfortunately my car is not that high tech

Yes I'll probably do something similar. My one though detects what port the Car2PC is plugged into so there is no need to specify a port

autolearn is very intersting idea however, you need to create a filter list, like what buttons to ignore. My Mazda headunit sends PL(play) or ST(stop) commands every second and there is no way to switch to specific disc: you have to use disk up/disk down buttons. That part is also tricky: instead ND, it sends actual disk like DS001, DS002, ...

Yes, I have seen that DS001, DS002... in my friends Acura TSX.

But I think those are seperate buttons than the Next/Previous Disc button, no?

Also, I think all the Car2PC send PL,PL,PL.... continuously. Not too sure though... Check my log file in one of the post above.

Thanks for pointing this out I'll take it into account.

I'm currently working on version 0.3 which will have the setup functionality. It's going to be generic to allow any button to be pressed. If Car2PC sends back a code then it can be mapped.

Stay tuned for the next update. Hopefully in a day or two.

I have 6 buttons: 1,2,3,4,5,6 which also have labels under them: 1 - disk up, 2 - disk down, so forth. so I can't just press 5 and go to disk 5 I have to press 1(disk up) several times waiting for your release !

Looking at Nintwala's error.log I've noticed that the commands are actually different. Normally, a PL command would be followed by a 0 or 1 if the button had been pressed but the commands coming back continously are actually just two digits. In other words, these are status messages and won't get in the way.

Yup, thats all it is. Its an "I am alive/working" status message. I think you get a different one when you switch the mode to CD or Radio from AUX. It might vary from car to car.

If its the same for every car, it would be cool thing to use to pause the music. So if the system was stopped it would pause the music or exit CF or even shutdown the computer

I will have to check it out.
