New Contacts plugin
Hi guys,
I've decided to beef up a bit the first Contacts plugin I've made, almost one year ago.
It is now ready for beta testing. Before you download the setup, have a peek on what it does in this video.
For those of you who don't have any Contacts (vCard format) at hand, here's a ZIP file containing the Contacts shown in the demo (those are fake Contacts - so, no chance at all to date Jenny, Kas or even Hanna )
Extract it into your "My Documents" folder and set up the plugin accordingly.

Really promising.
First tests on my laptop is great.
Will try soon in the car !
Of course the first remarks comes. - A lot of exceptions are raised when you do you click in unhandled places.
- The same is true when you click on an arrow that does nothing
- Difficulties with the addresses. This is a global lack in Destinator. But it is then a trouble in your plugin. It does not search for an address but is use it directly. As a result if the address is not 100% correct for destinator, it does not find !
Also, I'm not sure where is the trouble. My settings or a bug in the plugin.
vCard with characters like 'éèà' I have to update them manually.
For the suggestions:
Any plan for import functionalities????? - From CF phone contacts
- From PDA contacts
- From Exchange or Outlook contacts
Otherwise, congratulations. Very cool

This is because this plugin is alreday prepared to run under 1.48 and higher. It'll vanish as soon as the new CF version is out.

Yes, maybe. There's no option in the SDK to search for addresses. However, since these are your contacts, maybe it's time to update them . If you can't assign a address, because it's not being found by Destinator, try assigning a Geo position (Longitude, Latitude) for those contacts.

This will not happen if your vCard export is according to the recommendation (unfortunately, this is not always the case).

1.48 will work with vCards. It's all a matter of setting the right folder in the settings.
PDA's/phones can send their contacts via Bluetooth. For now, you can setup your contacts folder in the plugin settings to the Bluetooth-Exchange-Folder, which will reveice vCards assuming you're using the Broadcom stack (you don't even need the Bluetooth plugin for that). Any change in such folder will be detected and the contacts will be updated automatically. Have a look in the documentation (even though it's for the previous version of Contacts) in chapter "Where do I get my contacts from?". It'll explain that process in detail.

Also, have a look into the manual (working on the new version). The Contacts plugin handles vCards. So it's only a matter of exporting the Contacts you have as vCards, no matter where they come from.

First test
Thanks for an excellent and useful plug in
tested on a G4 with CF1.47
Reporting the same as amemo06, on exceptions in unhandled places
We appreciate the extra functionality, very thoughtful
From a GUI and ease of use perspective, I would personally like to have more space on the contacts list window with "throw alphabet scrolling" as in previous version, and the side info could be smaller or not there at all. I you need any info on the contact you could double click and it would fill the whole window.
Thanks again!

Thanks.
The alphabet scrolling is still there, just keep the finger/mouse on the listbox until the index character appears.
The GUI I've chosen here is because of the option for making calls, or programming a new route with just two (or maybe three) clicks, which is way more convenient while you're in the car.
The previous version has got more space but in most cases it was wasted with emptiness.

As long as nothing changes in the interface of the new phone solution, yes.
