Idea for a Plugin

Hi...

what do you think about a plugin, that shows you all important data of the car pc...i.e. temperatures of hdd, case....., capacity of the hdd, usage of the cpu and stuff like that...

would be cool if someone would build such a plugin...

I would also like to see that information. Especially for us fanless mobo people (which is maybe just me for all I know.) On hot days, I'd love to be able to read the vital stats of the thing...

Good idea, been thinking along similar lines myself after reading the OBDII Gauge thread. As I have no ECU or electronic senders of any sort in the vehicle I will be installing the car pc in I was thinking of a virtual dash showing a speedometer, compass and altimeter all getting their data from GPS and another set of gauges showing exactly what you described above CPU temp disc usage available memory etc

WHilst I would have no idea on how to do any of this with regards to creating the plugin I would certainly be able to help with graphics/skinning if needed

Well reading the temp specifically for your motherboard is a tricky process (from what I can tell). But a plugin which uses the information supplied by Coolmon or something similar would do the trick. Fairly simple code wise, just reading a text file and displaying it however you like.

assault will become famous soon enough
You could always use a Phidget with the Phidgets pluggin and temperature sensors etc. Probably not the cheapest way to go but I believe you could get it to work with not too much hassle.

my thought was, to get the data of a tool like speedfan, if this would be possible...

Well I liked this idea so much I've gone and made it.

Haven't skinned it yet but I've made a reader which uses MBM5.

With this it can read your:
Date, Time
CPU Speed
Case Temp
CPU Temp
CPU Voltages (Supports Multi-Core)
All Voltages (+/-)
Up to 3 Fan Speeds

I'm going to throw together a basic skin but if anyone would like to do a better job than me you are more than welcome.

I will have a go at making the skins need to learn what to do anyway

Well I've thrown together a basic skin and it all works. Quite funky too.

Would anyone be interested in me coding in some temperature / fan speed / voltage alerts? MBM 5 does them already but I COULD code some Centrafuse friendly ones if people are interested.

Here is my slapped together version (requires MBM 5):
MBM Reader

No insutrctions included yet, just add it to centrafuse and go to the settings, it is fairly self explanatory.

EDIT: In motherboard monitor you will need to enable data logging to an XML file, that is the file you point the plugin to. Set the interval to the same as you set MBM.
