Yeah sorry I did, just been flat out with work........

Here it is. Pics are of the one installed in the GTR which has been blacked out and the other one which is my test one which will be installed in my other car later....... but for now is my tester.

GTR's been installed for 2 months now with no hassles.

Pics of Matt's adaptor also for those who don't know about it.

PS just in case someone notices........ the little hole in the front is so you can still turn features on and off if needed and is sealed properly when it's installed so no moisture can get in.

I am not very familiar with the laser technology, but I am assuming that the front grill does not interfere with the performance of the radar detector. And also, dont they recommend to install it up higher in the vehicle?

Again, I dont know much about these radar detectors, just curious...

This is probably one of the most common questions about radar detectors. I have read about this and there are always mixed opinions, but for radar the best position is as high as possible to get maximum view of the road ahead. For laser the best position is low as that has a much narrower spread and it is aimed at your license plate and headlights, so lower will pick it up easier.

I have chosen to get maximum radar and thus its up high. Many of the reason people suggest lower is because middle would be 50/50 for radar and laser. Also they say higher is bad for the driver as they cant see it etc. I just want optimal performance.

Escort: Radar Detector Frequently Asked Questions - Escort Inc.
Valentine1 states in the middle of the window (presumably because of the radar/laser).

Well I have seperate Laser Jammers (the V1 is actually mounted on top of one of them) and so placement for laser wasn't a concern.

I tested my spare V1 up on the window with my other V1 in the grill and there was absolutely no difference at all in detection. When the mounted V1 goes off the other one on the dash goes off at the same time so I call bull$hit on their suggestions......... I've seen this in my friends BMW 3 series also with the same results.

I just found a local cop parked on the side of the road and drove back and forth past him to assure my results weren't just a one off.

Dejan, nice work! Forgive the stupid question but will the V1 display appear on any of the centrafuse screens when there is an alert or will you always have to be on a V1 setting? In other words if I'm in Navigation mode and an alert comes through will the V1 display appears automatically?

Yes it will pop up no mather in which screen you are currently. It will popup for few seconds(setup in settings) and if there will not be any action then will automatic hide...

I think it will be a good option to have it not pop up over what you're doing if you don't want also, as with most alerts, you'll get notification from an audio alert before a visual alert and you'll slow down......... how many bogeys and where they are is kinda a secondary concern in my eyes..

I'm trying to source the original sounds now so that we can code the PC to play alert sounds as the V1 would as in my case the V1 is so far away from me that I would never hear it even if it did sound an alert.

Dejan, I've installed the plugin, but how do I tell it which com port to look at ???

Might take a look under advanced settings..... didn't try that..... didn't think we'd have got as far as hiding things yet, but you never know
