I know that Dejan is not working actively in this plugin but maybe someone else can help me.

I'm using GPSPlex to share the GPS Com port with multiple applications. The problem is that GPSPlex creates a single virtual COM7 that can be useable by all applications... that see it.

Sygic accepts any port when you are selecting the GPS hardware, but Destinator and GPSEngine use the DETECTED ports, and Com7 doesn't show up in the list.

Is there any way to give Destinator or GPSEngine the Com port manually?

Thanks.

you can edit CF config.xml file manualy and try if work. GPSEngine use .NET SeralPort library which do not support Virtual COM Port. If I remember is avalible VirtualSerialPort library but is not FREE. GPS Gate or XPort create Virtual COM port(You can see it in device manager) and work with destinator or GPSEngine.
I don't know who are tell you that I don't work on this plugin I prepraing it for CF3...

Sorry for that but first I will finish my car and then I will continue with plugins...

Heheh

I'll try manual editing config.xml and see if that works.

I tried Xport, but when loaded at Windows start it would do weird things, like loading itself more than once, thus blocking everything, or disabling the virtual ports by itself (enable box would go off)... I didn't like it.

GPSGate is not freee so it's out of the question.

Thanks a lot!

Ok, I edited the config.xml inside the system folder and substituted the -1 for the correct port number.

GPSEngine is using the virtual port correctly

Therefore I can now advise you all to use GPSPlex as port multiplexer. It's MUCH smaller than Xport or GPSGate and works flawlessly.

sorry those carpc specs are from back in the day... I've just updated them. I am using a very old version of xport and now by reading this thread i think that might be the problem. I'm going to try to install the latest version later on today and see if anything changes.

Iv4n will become famous soon enough
How is this project conversion to CF3 going? It would be great to have in CF3, no rush or hurry!
Thanks for this great work Dejan, notify us if you will be making, compiling a new version for CF3.

Hi,
Plugin is cca. 80% code converted to CF3. All I must to do is fix/complete settings page.
