I recon this would bake an awesome VFD... ThinkGeek :: Optimus Mini Three Keyboard

its a small USB device with three buttons that can be mapped to any macro you like...

but that's not the interesting part! each button contains a 20mmx20mm OLED screen built in!

cool..

Hi,
My MB wafer 8522 does not support LPT, only USB and serial. What another connection I can use?
Are USB or serial displays supportet yet?

If it comes up in device manager as a parallel port then technically it should. Not tested myself though I see no reason why it shouldnt work.

Hi there
I'm 90% sure that a usb to parallel adapter will work if you can see it in the hardware device manager. I have tested a usb to com adapter and it worked ;-)

God luck...and post some pics :-D

Best regards
Kenneth

I might consider adding something like this if I ever buy my own truck. It'd be nice to have a small display showing temperatures (inside, outside & computer).

Im read somewhere that USB->LPT adapter with prolific chip doesn't work with LCD...

I have another question.
Is important how lines/pixels have LCD?
2x20, 2X40, 4X20 or only must have HD44780 controller?
