Coding Comments in Skin.XML File?

I'm attempting to create the GPS and PHONE sections for the Nexus skin and I was wondering if you can leave comments in the .XML like you can in .HTML using the ("//") or will it not read the .XML correctly?

I'm fairly familiar with HTML coding and XML coding seems slightly the same so this is why I ask.

This is just to make it easier for me and for testing it. I'm not using any other skinning software. All I'm using is Notepad++ and Photoshop.
