Just playing around with some ideas in photoshop. I, of course, don't have any idea quite yet on how to make this into an actual skin so if anyone is interested in teaming up with me or has some ideas, I'd love to turn something like this into a working model.

It's nothing ground breaking, but mixing elements of CF2 and CF3 together into something, I think, makes more sense as will hopefully be a bit more user friendly and entertaining.

Whats cool about it is that is it easily turned into any other color with a minimal amount of work - it would be great if one day we have a plugin for an RGB slider and it could change the skin on the fly with just a drag bar.

Let me know if you think I am way off base and if you guys hate this and want me to start over. Thanks!

This looks reaaally really great.. how ever.. im not that good skinning to make it .. and there are some functions required for the skins that hasnt been implemented well.. or fixed in CF 3.0, for example the time lapsed in main screen.. what are the two buttons on the right bottom? shoudnt be only one?

However, will be better if "next/previous track" buttons'll larger (better for fingers).

This is the best skin i have seen so far. I like how it is minimal, but it still has very good functionality. I like how everything is smaller, 10 buttons on main screen is a good idea. I like the heart icon instead of a star
I can help you with coding, but i do not have much time lately.

A few ideas for improvement:
- Play/pause by clicking on "Artist - Song Name"
- Volume instead of play/pause button. If you click, it mutes, if you drag -left/right you change volume (like a scrubber).
- Less icons
- Time changes to date on click.

What do you think?

Iv4n: the buttons on the bottom right are return home and the button that is on the top right of CF3, its like a "return to previous" page button or something. I guess it could be gone actually since I dont really know what it does.

Artificial: Interesting ideas you have there. Scrubber all the way across the top? Im wondering if that's TOO big - good idea though, I'll keep it in my head..

Really different idea for the volume slider - I'd like to do that! Just have to have it coded and see if something like that would work in a real world application.
Time date change idea works too, I think thats how CF is now.

Im not sure about all the little icons, just because Im not familiar with what buttons are on the screeen during when a phone call is made, or if we could have a section that displays little bits of random info - like # of sats connected, current street or speed, or something like that- but those are just in the details. Good ideas overall though. I will keep working on the whole skin.

That icon is a link to mediaplayer. But since we already have play/pause, next and previous always displayed, i think it is not necessary. You can go to home, and then mediaplayer if you need to.

Well, why not?
It doesn't replace any function, but it looks better (IMO). It doesn't matter for short tracks, but for a whole set of one hour or more, it would make a big difference.

I have never seen this anywhere, but it should be possible.
It would be perfect if you could slide the *background* of the slider, not the slider itself. This way you would have much better control over volume. I hope you know what i mean.

It is this way now. I think it is a good idea and it takes much less space while displaying same information, so why change it?

concerning the header, one of the ideas i had was to have an option somewhere where the user can choose what info they want on the top right. kinda like widgets or that one plugin for cf2 that displayed info on the home screen center area. so you could choose current street or current speed or something. what do you think? or maybe this idea on the bottom left instead, and maybe multiple clicks cycles through diff widgets or it rotates on a timer

i get what youre saying about the volume, we could have a popup icon right above that too that said the current % of the volume or a little slide bar that followed the finger or something.

edit: just remembered, with this volume idea, where is mute? since click is pause. does double click exist in CF? [i know if does to maximize the visualizations]

i think he wants... play/pause on "artist - song" and in the speaker button if you click it, it will mute...
