The instructions must have been done from a older XPE download. You get a bunch of cab files now. You have to make either a CD out of it or use something like UltraISO and make ISO out of it and mount it to your virtual machine to use it.

guybrush is on a distinguished road
You can also use microsofts tools "cdimage", which you can find on the net to create nice isos.

Looks like Microsoft is coming out with a new product called "Windows Embedded Standard". I guess they got rid of the "vista" part of it. I have been watching the video of it and it seems pretty interesting.

Windows XP Embedded Home

Hopefully the beta version is available for download soon. (EDIT: actually there is a download available "CTP Refresh" and SP3 for it)

I think David might be interesting in this.

Yeah, I just downloaded it last night and made my first build of XP embedded to run on Virtual PC. It was pretty easy

Next step will be to put it on my Car PC with Centrafuse.

I get to the Centrafuse registration dialog in about 40-45 second from a fresh restart.

I think I am missing something from the build though because when I looked at the error.log of CF, I keep getting this error

The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.

I searched for "oledb" in the target designer and all I could find is "Active Directory Service Interface (ADSI) OLEDB Provider". Do I need to add that to the target machine or is there something else I am missing?
