No thanks, Its my job to solve software problems, although its for different platform (OpenVMS) and a different brand (Railway security).
What do you like me to test on another computer? The Sound card issue or the CPU load problem?
I have a home computer running XP pro SP3 on a AMD quad core. On this system I started testing Centrafuse before buying the CarPC. The Trial version of CF is expired. If I remember well, CF can be installed on a A and a B system. If not then I'll need an extra (temp.) key for CF to.

That system at home should be fine. Use the Secondary (or the unused) activation profile for testing. If you need me to clear an activation let me know via support email or PM.

First test results:
I finished setting up CF on my home PC (standard configuration with one (on board) sound adapter). Everything works as it should work:
- Multiple voice commands can be entered without unmuting the mike after each voice command. Note: The on board sound card uses mute buttons for each input channel in stead of radio buttons to select the input channel (like on my CarPC).
- Multiple phone calls can be made without "mike problems".
- The delay is minimal. So the delay on my CarPC is caused by the slow processor (VIA C7 on 1 GHz)
- When the mike is enabled, there is only a 25 % (extra) CPU load on one of the four CPU cores (DPCs).
- BlueSoleil is trying to do some noise or echo cancellation, but not very successful (there is still an echo and the sound is a bit crispy).
So far, so good. Tomorrow I will test with multiple sound adapters.

Testresults, part 2
Hi,
The next step: I hooked up the Andrea PureAudio USB-SA and configured this as the default input device for Windows (the default output device is still the on board Realtek HD Audio device).
First of all when I connected the USB-SA to my home computer, Windows did recognize the device and configured it. When I selected the input mode of this device in the standard Windows XP mixer, there were to faders: One for line-input and one for the mike. Both of them had a select box and the mike was selected. After installing the software of Andrea, there was only one fader left and it had an mute box; ain't this strange?
And then the tests:
- The first voice command: OK
- The second voice command: No response (the mike was muted). So this problem is related to this sound adapter, or all sound adapters with select boxes?
- Then the first call:
- Mike OK, but I experience a somewhat larger delay for the echo.
- CPU usage up to 40% on two CPU's When I switch off noise filtering in the Andrea software, one CPU drops to normal level, the other stays at about 40%
- The second call: Same story!
- The third call: Same story!
- Ect.
Then I changed the default input device back to the on board SA and tested again: same results.
Note that I did not even need to leave the microphone box in the PHONE configuration blank to let BlueSoleil use the Windows default input device.
Then I installed the latest BlueSoleil software (V6.4.269.0) and tested again: Same results, although the quality of the sound seems to be a little bit better, but that could be the network.
So I'm afraid that my problems are related to the system I use. The main differences:
- Windows XP Pro SP2 verses SP3
- EPIA motherboard with VIA HD audio on board versus ASUS M3A78-T motherboard with Realtek HD audio on board.
I need time to think (and eat)...

Using the trial version, (currently waiting for cf3 to purchase) I had the same issue. I am using VIA AC97 sound card and using the Andrea microphone. I pushed ptt the mic would mute I could say a command, command was executed. The second time I pushed ptt, the ptt icon would turn a bluish color, I would say a command and nothing...mike was still muted from the previous instance of ptt. For a fix, I uninstalled the VIA AC97 drivers, insured under control panel -> sounds and devices that only the Andrea was showing as a device for both playback and record. I then reinstalled the AC97 drivers, went back to sounds and devices and changed the playback to the AC97 vinyl (wave) and left the record at Andrea. Inside centrafuse I went to phone (since my issue was getting the phone working initially and the unmute problem), and set the record device to 'none'. All my issues with the mic muting and not unmuting after issuing the ptt command have disappeared completely. I also noticed that by having the Andrea drivers as the default, I no longer have a checkbox for 'mute'...it now says 'select'.
Hope this helps

Hi,
At the first sight, there seems no use in what you did, but the second hand, I remembered that CF uses some kind of indexes to address the sound devices and it's channels. Something like 2.3 for the third channel on the second device. What you where doing actually, was making the Andrea PureAudio USB-SA the first sound device in the list by removing all others. After reinstalling the on-board SA, you made that the second device. When CF or DirectX has problems accessing the second device then this could make sense. On the other hand, I could be totally wrong.
Then I wondered what happens when you remove one of the devices when CF is running and Windows reorganizes the list of available devices? Note: I don't expect an answer on this, it's just a thought...
Yesterday, I tried your suggestion. Sadly enough, it stayed by trying: When I reinstalled the drivers of my on-board sound adapter, the installation failed . This is the same problem I ran into some months ago. It is really a pity I did not write down the solution after merely a week of work
Tomorrow I will start all over again and give Windows 7 a try. I wonder where that ends.

Before you start from scratch, try doing a system restore to an earlier time. It should not change the default device being the Andrea. It should only reinstall the vinyldeck AC97 codecs.

Yes, you are wright about that, but my cup is full: I have a lot of other problems too. First of all my VIA EPIA-PICO PX 10000G Pico-ITX is much to slow to handle noise cancellation, navigation and phone handling at the same time, mainly because of many DPC's (post processing of interrupts?) it has to handle. Than I have the CF splash screens when I reopen my (Sygic) navigation window, probably also caused by the slow CPU.
I hope the New Windows 7 RC makes better use of the hardware, but it probably won't and than I have to look for another purpose for this system and buy a faster one.
By the way, I'm going to install Windows 7 on another partion, so I can always go back and try your solution. But I think thats a dead end anyway for me.
